Levi's — Quality Never Goes Out of Style · Chapter 3 of 9
Character tracking
The performer in the green suit, tracked as a 3D object and handed to animation as FBX.
· 1 min

Besides the camera, we tracked the on-set performer in a green suit as a separate 3D object. His full-body motion became the base animation layer for the robot.
The actor’s 3D motion path was solved in 3DEqualizer. KeenTools GeoTracker inside Nuke was used as well, to track, check and preview the motion directly on the plate, aligned to the final comp camera.
- A simple humanoid proxy aligned to the performer’s proportions.
- Key frames set by hand for torso, head and limbs.
- Automatic tracking pass, frame by frame, for each body section.
- Motion exported as FBX to Maya as the base for animation and timing.
- Tracked geometry re-projected onto the plate before retargeting.
