Quintessence
Quintessence is a poetic video project by Serhii Babkin, built as a collection of author’s essays reflecting on the eternal, the spiritual, and the deeply personal. Each episode was filmed within a single shooting day, with the exception of the fourth chapter. As a result, the core creative work was concentrated in pre-production, where the team carefully planned every step of the production process.

01. My Blank Page
In the first essay, My Blank Page, the artist reflects on the very first moments of creativity – ideas that have not yet taken physical form on paper but already exist vividly in the mind. The episode explores the fragile transition between thought and creation.
02. Macula
In Macula, the author openly shares his emotions and personal experience of facing a rare ophthalmological condition that unexpectedly appeared at the beginning of the year. Faith, support, and love become the central themes and the main sources of healing.
The macula is the area of the retina responsible for the sharpest human vision.
03. I-D (ЯD)
Humanity has long been aware of multiple dimensions. Reflections on multidimensional spaces are no longer limited to theoretical physics. The popularity of science fiction films such as Interstellar has encouraged many to contemplate four-dimensional (4D), five-dimensional (5D), and other complex spatial concepts.
Yet the most important space for each of us remains the space of the “Self” – I-D. A dimension that exists within everyone, but one we too often neglect to explore.
04. Impulse
The fourth episode of Quintessence was initiated before the beginning of the full-scale invasion. This chapter brings together three core artistic elements central to Serhii’s creative identity: poetry, music, and visual art.
